Emily Smith O.D.
Emily Smith, O.D. received her Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2020, where she concurrently completed her Master of Science in Low Vision Rehabilitation at Salus University. She continued her specialty training through a residency at the West Haven Veterans’ Affairs Hospital in Connecticut, which focused on ocular disease and low vision care. Dr. Smith earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Delaware Valley University, where she was also a student athlete who competed in collegiate horseback riding.
Dr. Smith considers the eyes to be a special and unique part of the body because they can provide a glimpse into the complexity of the brain as well as detect systemic disease in the body. Dr. Smith’s favorite part of being an optometrist is interacting with her patients every day and getting to know them on a personal level so she can provide them with the specialized eyecare they require. It also gives her the opportunity to be a vital part of the community.
Dr. Smith is passionate about managing ocular diseases, such as diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, as well as providing low vision care to the visually impaired. She is also a proud member of the American Optometric Association and the Colorado Optometric Association.
In her time away from the office, Dr. Smith enjoys being in the great outdoors by participating in horseback riding, rock climbing, and hiking activities.
